The Chinese Art of Date Selection, October 7, 2014, 10 am – 12 pm

Chinese AlmanacDate selection is a classical Chinese practice, which predates to the era of the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). The concept behind Date Selection is simple: the objective is to carry out an activity at the point in which the energies of the universe are optimized for that particular endeavor. In that way, a particular event can commence on a positive note and footing. Originally utilized for matters relating to war and peace, Date Selection was eventually extended to key activities such as planting and harvesting of crops, marriages, moving into a new house, travel and burial. This talk will reveal some of the methods used in Date Selection and will pinpoint dates that are particularly prosperous for certain activities, while also pointing out dates on which important business or personal decisions should be avoided – and why.

This talk will be held in cooperation with the American Women’s Association of Hong Kong. Tickets can be purchased directly at www.awa.org.hk.

Hong Kong Feng Shui Excursion, November 2014

Hong Kong SkylineSuzhong Consulting, in cooperation with the Canadian Schools of Feng Shui, is organizing a week long Feng Shui excursion in Hong Kong from November 6 – 10, 2014.

The excursion will include visits to the most prominent Hong Kong landmark buildings and explain their Feng Shui history and Feng Shui features. We will also go off the beaten path and visit old Chinese villages in the New Territories to take a look at settlements that were planned and laid out entirely according to Feng Shui principles. In addition, we will visit Chinese cemeteries in Hong Kong to teach participants about the differences between Yin House Feng Shui and Yang House Feng Shui. Finally, we will “Walk the Dragons” – hike some of the most beautiful hiking trails in and around Hong Kong to analyze the mountain forms and discuss how these mountains/dragons impact the lives of the people living in their vicinity.

This excursion will give participants great insights into the principles of Classical Feng Shui and how these principles are still being applied and upheld today in one of the most vibrant and wealthy cities in Southeast Asia. Two experienced Feng Shui practitioners will be on hand at all times to explain and discuss the Luan Tou and Li Qi principles we find during our excursion.
