What is Feng Shui?
Classical Feng Shui is neither the art of placement, nor is it a religious practice. It is not necessary to follow a particular religion to understand and apply Feng Shui. Neither can it be called philosophy, since it encompasses many different schools of thoughts, as well as practical tools and calculation techniques. Asking someone if they believe in Feng Shui is like asking whether they believe in the weather – Feng Shui is a fact of life, whether you believe in it or not.
In China, success in life is always considered to be a combination of three interrelated factors:
- Heaven Luck
- Earth Luck
- Man Luck
Heaven Luck is the destiny with which every individual is born, it is beyond our control. Earth Luck is the Feng Shui potential surrounding everybody. Man Luck is each individual’s personal responsibility to make the best of life’s opportunities. Feng Shui is therefore only one of three contributing factors – but rightly applied it can greatly enhance a person’s positive chances and opportunities in life.
Classical Feng Shui is generally used in three situations:
Remedy Existing Problems: Negative Feng Shui within a property, be it a residential or a commercial property, can lead to the accumulation of negative Qi, causing an imbalance of life energy that gradually fills our environment with stress and overall negativity. A Classical Feng Shui practitioner can detect the areas in your home or office that are impacted by these negative Qi flows and make recommendations to either minimize or neutralize the negative outcomes of this bad Feng Shui. In some cases, negative Qi flows can even be reversed and turned into positive energy to benefit your life and work goals.
Enhancing Life Circumstances: Through the evaluation of your property, a Classical Feng Shui practitioner can gauge the inherent Feng Shui potential of the property and detect whether it is prone to prosperity, wealth, harmony, or whether it is more likely to generate negative outcomes – such as sickness, legal problems, career issues, divorce, etc. With the use of this knowledge, the Feng Shui consultant can help clients enhance and strengthen the positive aspects of the property in order to ensure good fortune and focus positive energies on specific outcomes, while at the same time offsetting potential negative outcomes.
Forecasting: A highly trained Classical Feng Shui practitioner is able to forecast future possibilities that lie within the Feng Shui setup of a property. By means of careful examination and calculation of the external and internal Qi flows, as well as the governing stars of the property, a practitioner can predict the forces that impact which resident(s) of a property – and how. Predictions are usually made for a month or a year and will help the individuals to prepare for upcoming situations and take decisions accordingly.
Residential
Existing House/Apartment
This consultation includes a thorough analysis of your home’s Feng Shui, both for apartments and landed property. The Feng Shui Audit will take into consideration the birth dates and the Chinese animal signs of all residents. The consultation includes an evaluation of the external and internal features that impact the quality of your home’s Feng Shui and, where necessary and applicable, provides suggestions and remedies to enhance and balance the Feng Shui of your home to support the residents with the achievement of their lives’ goals.
Depending on the client’s needs, the audit can focus on specific areas that are of special concern to the residents (relationships, family situation, health and illnesses, career and education). In order to assess the effect of the property’s Feng Shui on the residents, the audit will pay special attention to the external environment of the property, the building itself, the residents and the time aspects.
Pre-purchase/Pre-relocation Assessment
This Feng Shui audit will help the client to evaluate the Feng Shui of a property prior to the potential purchase or relocation. Surely, you want a property with good Feng Shui and positive Qi flow, rather than a property that has rather dim prospects!
The assessment will give you information about the property’s potential for your family with respect to career, health, education, wealth and relationship aspects and you will be able to ascertain whether or not this particular property will help you and your family to obtain certain desired outcomes. Special attention will be paid to the Flying Stars analysis, as well as an examination of the time frame that will bring about a certain quality of Qi flow.
Some properties will have good Feng Shui and support your family’s life goals, some properties have inherently bad Feng Shui that cannot be remedied, or only with huge expenses. It would therefore be wise to take advantage of a pre-purchase assessment before you make such an investment.
Pre-building Assessment
For owners of landed property, the best time for a Feng Shui audit is obviously prior to any building being built. A pre-building Feng Shui audit can ensure that prosperous and good Feng Shui is incorporated in the building and architectural plans of the building itself, so that no later remedies are necessary. Since many remedies of landed property require a big investment and considerable construction work, a pre-building Feng Shui audit will save you money in the long run and can make important recommendations on how and where to position and direct the building, where to place the main door, the master bedroom , the kitchen and other important areas of the house.
Commercial
Corporate Offices
In an office space it is of great importance to place key staff – and especially key managers – in the space most suitable for them. Likewise, corporate clients benefit greatly from information regarding how the annual stars affect the Qi flow within an office – and how especially the negative energies can be countered and remedied. Special attention will also be paid to the placement of your company sign board or logo.
Suzhong Consulting will customize your office’s Feng Shui capabilities and suit them to your needs to support your business venture and enhance your business’ profitability.
Depending on the size of your office premises, consultations take place over the course of one or two visits. Sometimes a specific need can be taken care of in one single visit.
Shops & Retail/Malls
Not all businesses require the same Feng Shui setup. Different stars affect different aspects of a business. Hence, it is important to harmonize these stars so they can benefit and support your unique business.
In order for your business to be successful and thriving, the Feng Shui audit will pay special attention to the shop door(s), the flow of the clients, placement of critical offices/shop space and the checkout counter. Furthermore, we will consider the time factors affecting your business and draft recommendations on how to counter negative Qi flow in order to minimize adverse effects on your business.
Special attention will also be paid to the placement of your shop’s signboard.
Depending on the size of your shop or retail premises, consultations take place over the course of one to three visits. Sometimes a specific need can be taken care of in one single visit.
Restaurants & Cafes
Food is important for our health and well-being. Hence we should pay special attention to the Feng Shui of any business that is in the F&B industry. Of critical importance in a Feng Shui audit for restaurants and cafes is the evaluation of their kitchen, and especially the stove placement. The careful positioning of main door is equally as important, as it facilitates the inflow of clients and patrons for your establishment.
Suzhong Consulting will evaluate all these aspects and cross-reference them with the guiding principles of your key staff in order to maximize your restaurant’s profitability. Special attention will also be paid to the placement of your restaurant’s signboard.

Land Selection
Similar to a House Selection, Suzhong Consulting can conduct a land assessment for you, if you are thinking of purchasing a plot of land and are unsure which plot to chose. Since all land plots are different from each other in terms of their inherent Feng Shui capabilities and their suitability for particular residential and/or types of commercial enterprises, it would be advisable to assess and evaluate the Feng Shui potential prior to any purchase and ensure that the plot you eventually purchase is in line with your personal or business goals, as well as those of your family.
In case you have already purchased the land, Suzhong Consulting can also help you to find out the weaker spots of the land and how to avoid being affected by their unfavorable effects by suggesting Feng Shui remedies.
Property Selection- House Selection
Are you in the market for buying a house or new office premise and cannot decide which one to chose?
How do you decide if you have several lovely homes or suitable office spaces to choose from but you are uncertain which one would be best suited for your needs? Which one has the best Feng Shui?
Suzhong Consulting will make your decision easier. We can conduct either a full Feng Shui assessment for each potential property, or we will conduct a short evaluation of the properties and compare their Feng Shui potential and provide you will our honest opinion on which property has the best Feng Shui to support your family or your business.
The shorter evaluation will only analyze the external landforms that impact on the property, Flying Stars and Eight Mansions, whereas the full Feng Shui assessment will also take all the members of the family, or, in case of an office space, the management team, into account.
Annual Assessment
Qi moves in cycles. Cyclical changes take place every year and change the Qi flow in our environment – both external and internal. These annual changes of the Qi flow can affect the Feng Shui capabilities of a property.
An annual assessment of your property, conducted at the beginning of each year, is therefore an excellent way to gauge what the next year has in store for you in terms of Feng Shui. How can you benefit from the upcoming changes? How can you counter and remedy potential negative Feng Shui and reduce risks and harm from coming your way?
Suzhong Consulting will work out a thorough assessment of the annual stars and make recommendations and suggest remedies so you can weather all storms and take full advantage of budding opportunities – both for your family, and for your business and career.
