Analysing Family Relationships with Bazi

Family relationships are fairly easy to analyse when using the following template: 

With this, every immediate family member and your relationship with them is mapped out in your Natal Chart.

The 10 Gods in your Natal Chart also show you what is happening between you and specific family members:

For a male client, the father will be represented by the Indirect Wealth element. For a female client, the father is represented by the Direct Wealth element, and so on.

When a clash with one of these elements happens, then there is likely something significant going on between you and this particular family member (provided the question you are analysing actually surrounds family, otherwise the 10 Gods stand in for other people/issues/objects/situations).

Combinations can mean that there is a new relationship or that your relationship with the family member in question can improve or you start doing more things together.

One of the most important factors we pay attention to in a family analysis is the concept of family harmony. 

Family Harmony 101 – Combinations

Combinations foster harmony.

When you see a Combination happening between your Day Pillar and any Pillar in your family members’ Natal Charts, this is an indicator of affinity between you and that particular family member.

A Combination means that you work well together. If there are no combinations, that doesn’t mean that it won’t work out or that you don’t get along with your family members, it just requires more work. 

Family Harmony 101 – Similarity

Here again the focus point is YOUR Day Pillar. Check the Hidden Stems in your Day Pillar and then take a look at the Natal Charts of your family members. If you find your Day Pillar’s Hidden Stems anywhere in the Heavenly Stems of your family members’ Natal Charts, then you have similar character traits, likes and dislikes.

In a second step, check the Heavenly Stems in YOUR Natal Chart and see if they appear anywhere in the Hidden Stems of your family members’ Natal Charts. If yes, then this is again a sign that you follow similar thought patterns and behaviors. 

Family Harmony 101 – Identical Pillars

If your Day Pillar appears anywhere in the charts of one of your family members, then there is an extremely strong affinity between the two of you and you’re likely very close.

However, there is a downside to this – an external Clash that comes in through an Annual Pillar or a Luck Pillar will affect both of you strongly and may be really severe.
