Your Health and Chinese Metaphysics

Why do we fall sick when others stay healthy? Is health about luck? Is disease just an accident or are we destined to fall sick? And how can we prevent disease provided we are not destined for it?

These are questions we often hear from clients who come for a Feng Shui or Bazi Astrology consultation about health matters. The reality is that we don’t HAVE to fall sick and there is a lot we can do to prevent the worst from happening. All it takes is a little foresight and commitment to plan for the right actions.

We also call this our “Destiny Code” or our Metaphysical DNA. This Destiny Code is derived by analysing the 5 Elements in our Bazi chart. (Find a free Bazi Plotter here.)

An element will give you information about:

  • The physical organs
  • The symptoms
  • A person’s mentality
  • A person’s emotions
  • A person’s spiritual virtues

Wood Element

If you want to check how the liver and the gallbladder are doing, you can look at their secondary correspondences – the nails, eyes, and sinews. These are all associated with the Wood element and can give you information about the health of the inner organs.

Emotional expressions of the Wood element can range from hope and enthusiasm, all the way to depression and hopelessness.

When the Wood element is imbalanced, people will become indecisive, they can’t or won’t move forward and constantly hesitate. They can also experience vertigo since their spatial coordination will be affected.

Fire Element

The heart is considered the Emperor of the body, and is also called “Imperial Fire”.

The tongue has to do with speech. So, if people are babbling or can’t find their speech or have any other speech impediment, then this is often caused by an imbalance with the Fire element.

From a mental point of view, clarity is associated with Fire because it has to do with information management. Can we digest the important information and separate it from the flood of trivial information we are constantly bombarded with?

Earth Element

A weak Earth element can manifest in exhaustion and getting tired quicker than usual, often accompanied with muscle aches and pains.

When the Earth element – which is associated with stability – is negatively affected, then this can cause anxiety and stress.

When a person goes through the same experiences in life over and over again, then this is an issue with the Earth element on a spiritual level.

Metal Element

A balanced Metal element shows a proper sense of right and wrong, justice and injustice. Imbalanced Metal, on the other hand, expresses itself through sayings like “something should or shouldn’t be.” The word “should” indicates a hidden arrogance because we think we know better even though we hardly ever do. So, when Metal is not functioning well and/or is imbalanced, people can become very judgemental and harsh.

People who cannot let go of grudges do not have a well-balanced Metal element. It has to do with time management – you tend to hold on to the past.

Water Element

Chronic lower back pain is often a secondary expression of kidney problems or at the very minimum weak kidney Qi.

Osteoporosis and ear problems also have to do with an imbalance of the Water element.

Quantity of Elements

As we can see, the 5 Elements don’t just express themselves in the organs they are immediately associated with a variety of secondary correspondences and symptoms.

What we need to take note of is the quantity of an element in the chart. The quantity determines not only the health of ALL its correspondences – primary and secondary – but also the health of the element it controls.

So, an overly strong Water element will not only manifest in Water problems, but also in Fire problems, because Water controls Fire.

Quality of Elements

The quality of an element is determined by the relationships it has with other components in the chart:

  • Clashes
  • Harms
  • Destructions
  • Punishments
  • Combinations

Additionally, we take the health of the Day Master into consideration to evaluate the overall constitution of a person. We also check the Luck Pillars, the Annual and Month Pillars for any adverse interactions with the Natal chart.

Stem & Branch Organ Correspondences

Each one of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches is associated with an organ.

On a basic level, the correspondences are as follows:

And this also relates to Feng Shui and the 24 Mountain Ring! So, if your property sees a negative feature, negative energy, or any type of form violation, then the organ associated with the Earthly Branch or Heavenly Stem direction will be affected.

We come full circle.
